Medimap: on a mission to make healthcare more convenient and accessible for Canadians. The platform built is used by thousands of walk-in medical clinics across the country to publish their wait times online and a growing number of paramedical clinics to post their open appointments, making it easy to compare the availability of clinics in any community and find access to care.

Over 5 million patients have used medimap.ca to find access to care, making it Canada's one of the most widely used online healthcare navigation platforms. Vision is to provide all Canadians with a one-stop-shop for easy access to care in their community.

Challenge

The company came to MirosTech to build a map of all the available clinics into the existing solution with multiple interesting integrations, like video conferencing with healthcare professionals, clinics photo & text content comfortable uploading etc.. The map should have presented the variety of medical organizations and information about them in a very convenient way. The Customer also planned to integrate a rating system in order to simplify the search process.

Solution

MirosTech delopment team made a decision to create a web portal based on the ASP.NET MVC 3. The site was designed using ASP.NET membership, users, and roles stored in the DB. In administration mode, the portal is available with many pages to control the content and can be viewed only after a user passes authorization. A separate page (Controller/Action/View) was created for integration; it automatically authorizes all users as visitors and shows only the useful area of the map (no headers, footers, navigation controls) in read-only mode. Integration was done via an iFrame in the master site which hosted the map.

Results

All of the parts of the map site (administration, user view) and integration were successfully implemented and completed in time. The project is in active use and so far we receive requests from the customer for new features and improvements since the idea turned out to be very good and the exact implementation is popular among end users.
